Carolyn Lee Kemper

kemper-obitCarolyn Lee Kemper, 78, of Camden, passed away at 8:05 a.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family following a courageous journey with Alzheimer's Disease and chronic back problems.

She was born at home in Glenville on May 8, 1935 a daughter of the late Henderson Bill Wilson and Rachel Ivy Meadows Wilson.

On October 30, 1953, she married James Hugh Kemper, Jr. and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage.

She is also survived by three children: Danny Kemper and wife, Shirley of Washington PA; Deborah Garrett Crislip and husband, Rex of New Milton; and Elizabeth Holden and husband, Steve of Right Fork of Freeman's Creek; one brother, Harold "Kitty" Wilson and wife, Jeannie of Grantsville; one sister, Pauline Bennett " Polly" of Orlando FL; eight grandchildren: Erik Kemper and wife, Tara of Weston; Danielle Dire of Hickory, PA; Ted Garrett and wife, Jenny of Rush Run; Michael Garrett and wife, Diana of Horse Run; Jill Garrett and fianc┼Ż, Adam Wolfe of Oakdale, PA; Curtis Holden and wife, Angie of Pricetown; Abby Lee Brough and husband, Nathan of Salem, IN; and Jason Crislip and wife, Carrie of Ravenswood; 17 great grandchildren: Josie, Cole, Seth, Jesse, Hunter, Marie, Joshua, Emma, J.W., Gabriella, Jensen, Carder, Camden, Hannah, Mollie, Wyatt and Ellie.

She was preceded in death by two grandsons: Joshua Hugh Kemper and Mark Monroe Holden; five brothers: James Monroe, Ferrell, Kenneth Arland "Lit" and Arnett "Arnie" Wilson; and three sisters: Josephine Sims, Garnett Hartman and Flora Wilson.

Carolyn was a homemaker who enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, camping, riding 4-wheelers, deer hunting, and canning. She especially loved to watch her families' sporting events. She was a faithful member of the Camden United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School Youth Teacher, Secretary and Treasurer for many years. She was actively involved in various organizations including the Eastern Star Chapter #40, Rainbow Girls, Lewis County Farm Bureau and Extension Homemakers Club.

She touched the lives of many Lewis County children through her involvement and leadership in the Camden Rockets 4-H Club.

Friends and family gathered at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 3, 2014. Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Reverend Paul Thompson and Reverend Martin Wine officiated. Interment followed in the Freemansburg United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to People's Hospice of UHC at 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330 .
