Stephen Michael Saluk, 66, of Parkersburg, passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving wife and daughters. Steve was born August 2, 1947 in Norfolk, VA. His birth parents are Wilda Werne of Phoenix, AZ and Benjamin Saluk of Cherry Hill, NJ. He was raised from an infant by his grandparents, the late O.D. and Maude Davis McCauley in Burnsville, and attended school there.
Steve retired from GE Plastics in November 2005 with 35 years of service. He was a member of Word of God Ministries Church, Blennerhassett Chapter of Trout Unlimited and Pioneer Antique Auto Club. He was an avid trout fisherman and enjoyed fishing and exploring the trout streams in WV with his good friend Gary Allen.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marcia McIntyre Saluk; three daughters, Andrea Leigh (Chris) Ruppenthal of Hurricane; Erica Lynn (Jeff) Starcher of Parkersburg; Amanda Jo Saluk of Parkersburg; three grandchildren that he adored, Emileigh Jill Ruppenthal, Emma Grace and Bradyn Michael Starcher; step-sister, Patricia Saluk and step-brother, Jay Werne; and a host of friends and family.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Lynn Roush officiating.
Internment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
