Joseph K. Ellyson, 55, of Lehigh Acres, FL passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 after a long illness.
Joe was born in Parkersburg, the son of Willard Ellyson and Kathryn Black Ellyson who now reside in Lehigh Acres.
Joe was a 1977 graduate of Warren Local High School in Vincent, OH and was in the U.S. Army for four years part of which he served in Sinop, Turkey in the Signal Corp. He was employed in the cement industry, being a truck driver and paver plant operator.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on the family history, spending a lot of time with his grandson and his favorite drink - Dr. Pepper.
Joe was loved by many; was a wonderful husband, father, son and grandfather. He truly enjoyed helping people and will be missed very much. In a final act of kindness, Joe made a donation to the Lions Eye Institute.
Along with his parents, he is survived by his wife, Teresa Allen Ellyson; daughter, Danielle Brooke (Timothy) Harter; grandson, Kaiden William Harter all of Lehigh Acres; sister, Rebecca (Paul) Mason of Marietta, OH; aunts: Margaret Iwanua Stevens, Genevieve Earl, Novalee Ellyson, Ruth Ellyson and Louease Ellyson; uncle, Albert Black; brother-in-law, Ted (Angie) Smith and several loved cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Dec. 7, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Cypress Lake Presbyterian Church, 8260 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, FL, 33919.
Grandparents were the late Walter and Rosa Price Ellyson of Sinking Creek and the late Edgar and Mary Harris Black.
