Bobby Gene Roberts, age 82, Route 5 West, Glenville, (Lower Cedar Creek Community), departed this life on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at his residence, surrounded by family and friends following an extended illness.
Born February 25, 1931 in Pike County, Kentucky, son of the late Sam and Madge Bell Roberts.
Bobby Gene was a farmer all his life, he also had a sawmill, and timber service. He retired from the WV Dept. of Agriculture, in the Animal Health Division, with 23 1/2 years of service, and ran the Roberts Riding Stable for over 10 years. Bobby Gene loved to play music and played at the West Virginia Folk Festival for over 40 years. He was also a Methodist by faith.
On October 30, 1993 he was united in marriage to Ruth Barnett, who survives at their Route 5 home.
Surviving are two sons, Jeff Roberts and wife, Robin of Glenville; and Carl Roberts of Glenville; three step-daughters, Jeanne Richards and husband, Earnest of Lockney; Jenny Starcher of Glenville; and Barbara Smith of Glenville; and two brothers, Reggie Roberts and wife, Rose of Glenville; and John Paul Roberts and wife, Doris "Mug" of Glenville. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Bobby Gene was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Madge Bell Roberts.
Funeral Services were conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV 26351 at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 Rev. Joe Sealey and Rev. Phil Wilson officiated. Burial followed in the Pisgah Cemetery, Route 5 west of Glenville at the mouth of Holts Run Road. Friends called from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the Mortuary.

Mrs. Frankie Lee Burton, 87, of Belpre, OH, formerly of Coolville, OH, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.
She was born December 1, 1926 in Glenville, a daughter of the late Laco Marion and Arlie Ruth Skinner Vanhorn.
Mrs. Burton retired from Camden Clark Memorial Hospital where she was a C.N.A. in labor and delivery and in the operating room. She was a former beautician, having worked at CoxÕs Department store in Parkersburg, and owned her own beauty salon, BurtonÕs Beauty Salon. She formerly worked at the United Livestock Sales in Mineral Wells. She and her husband, Glen, raised and showed Quarter horses and American Walkers and were active in the Coolville Riding Club. She was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle Church in South Parkersburg.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C. Glen Burton, one sister, Wilma June Cross, and one brother, Dale Sherwood Vanhorn.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Gospel Tabernacle Church in South Parkersburg with Pastor Wayne Boone officiating. Burial of her cremains will be at the Vanhorn Family Cemetery in Gilmer County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Gary Dean Williams, 80, of Orlando, WV passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2013 in Sunbridge Nursing Home of Glenville following an extended illness. He was born in Akron, OH on April 3, 1933: son of the late Robert Edward Williams and Dama (Abernathy) Williams.
Mr. Williams leaves behind his ex-wife and friend: Shirley Strader Williams, the Strader family and nieces and nephews.
Mr. Williams was a lifelong resident of Akron and Clinton, OH. He attended schools in Akron. He was a member of the Brimsfield Baptist Church.
Gary loved the outdoors,was a good swimmer and like the water and loved to box. Gary loved animals and loved the autumn season. He retired in 1984 from Botzum Brothers as a truck driver.

Richard Lee Tubesing, 75, of Glenville passed away peacefully at 3:06 a.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2013 in Sunbridge Care & Rehab for Salem.
He was born on November 25, 1937 in St. Louis MO. a son of the late Clarence Claus Tubesing and Letha Ellen Thacker Tubesing.
He is survived by his dear friends, John and Jeannie Zsigray, of Glenville.
Rick realized the value of education and graduated with a B.A. degree in English from Yale University, a M.A. degree in Anthropology from the University of Chicago, and a MOS degree in Library Science from Western Michigan University.
Rick was an honored Lt. veteran of the United States Navy Reserves. During his academic career, and was employed by the Baltimore Public Library as a Head Librarian, University of Louisville as Assistant Director, Atlanta Public Library as Dept. Head, Lewis College as Director, University of Toledo as Dept. Head, College of Southwest as a Director, and Glenville State College as a longtime Library Director of the Robert F. Kidd Library. He strived to open and inspire the minds of the students everyday by bringing vast knowledge to their fingertips. He was also an accomplished author, an avid reader, and a National Geographic enthusiast. He enjoyed animals, flower gardening, and jewelry making.
Rick’s request for cremation has been honored and his friends will have a private Memorial Service at a later date.

Loren Glen Stump II, 62, of Tanner, WV, passed away October 11, 2013 at his home.
Born at Sand Ridge, June 24, 1951, he was a son of Loren Glen and Kathren Bertha Stump. He was former oil field driller for I.L. Morris.
He is survived by his ex-wife and companion, Sandra Kay Stump, step son, Douglas Allen Curry of Cox's Mills; step daughter, Joann Norman of Williamstown; three brothers, Dewayne Stump of Spencer; Clifford Stump of Spencer; and Steve Stump of Lancaster, TN; two sisters, Jewell Bastardo of NJ; and Vickey Carpenter of Spencer; as well as five grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by two sisters, Sharon Norman and Joye Ann Miller.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Stump Funeral Home of Grantsville is in charge of arrangements.

Wilma Jean Green Shields, 58, of Cedarville, passed away October 17, 2013.
She was born August 8, 1955 in Sutton, WV.
Wilma was a home caregiver and a homemaker.
She is survived by mother, Alice Marie Green Scott of Cedarville; children, Tammy Conner, Billy Scott and Brandy Lockard; grandchildren, Whitney Scott, Daniel Conner and Alissa Conner Isenhart; brothers, Burl Eugene Green and Russell D. Green and wife, Melissa; sister, Charlotte Sands and husband, Rick.
She was preceded in death by sister, Brenda Sue Green.
Service were held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2013, at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway Pastor Bryon Bukovesky officiated. Burial was in the Braxton Memorial Cemetery, Sutton.
