Glenville State College's Homecoming Parade Sat. at 10 a.m.

Welcome students, alumni, parents and staff to the 2013 Glenville State College Homecoming!

Students have been participating in Homecoming events all week and will continue to do so through Sun., Oct. 6.

The theme for this year's celebration is "That '70s Ville," playing off the popular TV sitcom That '70s Show. A '70s theme was chosen to honor the 40th anniversary of GSC's 1973 NAIA national runner-up football team, which will be honored during the week and at the football game's halftime ceremony.

On Mon., Evan Foster and Kayleigh Huck were selected as King and Queen for the week's festivities. Fun happenings for students like a corn hole tournament, bingo and tie dying took place earlier in the week.

On Thurs., students can enjoy a picnic from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Luanna T. Smith Amphitheater and take part in the always hilarious Sandy Sowell Game Show. Later that night, they will have their Homecoming Dance.

On Fri., Oct. 4, folks can take part in the Pioneer Steak Grill at Morris Stadium from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Guests may grill their own steak, or have a coach cook it for them. Cost for the meal is $25 for a single, $45 for a couple, with all the proceeds going to the GSC Athletics Dept. Advance tickets can be purchased by calling 304-462-6220.

There will also be a bonfire and chili cookoff that night from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. in the amphitheater on campus.

Come into town early for the parade on Main St. at 10:00 a.m. Professor Emeritus Rick Sypolt (Class of '75) will be the parade marshal.

After the parade, go on over to the football field for the pre-game festivities at 1:00 p.m. The Homecoming Royalty will be presented at that time. The marching band will also be playing before and during the game.

Kickoff time is 1:30 p.m. when the Glenville State Pioneers take on the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats. Come out and cheer them on!

The final event of Homecoming week will be the Alumni Tribute Golf Tournament on Sun., Oct 6. Tee off is at 10 a.m. at the Glenville Golf Course. Call 304-462-5634 for details. All golfers are welcome!
