Senior commodities disbursement will be Thurs., Apr. 19, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be NO regular commodities this month.

GOOD WILL DINNER

The Farm Bureau Good Will Dinner is planned for Apr. 21, 2018 at the Fire Hall in Glenville, beginning at 6 p.m. Bring your favorite dessert or salad and join us. The entree, sides and drinks will be provided. Call Ann Nestor at 304-462-4318 and let her know you plan on attending the dinner.

Kindermusik” returns to the Gilmer Public Library

Parents as Teachers presents “Kindermusik” at the Gilmer Public Library on Apr. 24, 1 p.m. Kindermusik mixes singing, musical instruments, reading, and movement into fun for you and your kids! For more information text Kelley, PAT educator at 304-377-5845

Folk Festival Day at the Library

On Sat., Apr. 28, the Gilmer Public Library will be hosting a Folk Festival Day 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This one-day event will offer a taste of what’s to come in June! There will be live music, vendors and much more!

More Music in Normantown!!

There will be two Music Jamborees this month at the Normantown Historical Community Center. On Apr. 14, the Glenville State College Bluegrass Band will perform and on the 28th the Carol Edwards Band will take the stage. Both are great groups, bring the family and come out and enjoy an evening listening to music! Music starts at 6:30, concessions open at 5:30. Low admission fee for adults and teens, children under 12 are free.

Gilmer co. Food Handler’s Class

The Gilmer County Health Department will be holding a Food Handlers Class on Fri. Apr. 20th at 4:30 p.m. in the Conference room of the Health Department. Anyone needing a Food handlers Card will need to take this class. We are no longer doing the open book test. If you have any questions please call the Health Department at 304-462-7351

If you have any questions about your Medicare benefits, to sign up for Medicare or to see if you qualify for Extra Help with your prescription drugs, please stop by to see her or call 304 765-4091 to schedule an appointment. She will be available from 9:30 a.m. -2:30 p.m..

PICK YOUR PRIZE BINGO

MELVIN WINE MEMORIAL CONCERT

We have the concert date on the Landmark Studio Calendar for April 21, 2018 at 5 p.m. doors open at 4 p.m. It was very successful last year and I hope everyone still wants to do this again in the Spring. Please mark your calendars and get the word out. There will be a square dance after the concert at the Sutton Community building. It is hosted by Augusta’s heritage dance trail program and they will promote both events in their brochure.

Weston 5K Run and Wellness Walk

Organizers for the Weston 5K are finalizing plans for the 11th annual event to be held in downtown Weston. The event is a collaboration between the City of Weston, Saint Patrick Church and School, and Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital.

ANNUAL DODDRIDGE CO CEOS HEALTH FAIR

Will be held on Sat., Apr. 28, 2018 from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Doddridge County Park. Most blood analysis tests require 12 hours fasting. Please bring stamped, addressed envelope for mailing the blood analysis results to you and/or your doctor. A food handlers permit training will be held at the event. Appointments are not required. At Horn Creek Baptist Church on 10394 WV Hwy 47W, Coxs Mills. On Apr. 5-8, 2018 at 7 p.m. nightly Thur. to Sat., and Sun. 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Lunch will be provided Sunday following 11 a.m. service. Speaker, Bruce Delange. Bruce and Mary Delange will be providing special music each evening.

Church News

Blessing Boxes Food Collection

The Glenville Community Church F.A.C.T. teen group on Walnut St. and the Good Shepherd teen Confirmation class on Mineral Rd. will be collecting nonperishable food items for Seeds of Blessing Boxes for Community Resources to be distributed for the Thanksgiving holiday from now until November 12th. Anyone who would like to donate may drop off food at either church or may contact Tammy Stewart-Huffman at (304) 517-0475 or Kristi McWhirter at (304) 266-1439.

REVIVAL

Chestnut Grove Baptist Church will be having a revival on Apr. 18-22, 2018. Evangelist Keith Woodby, from Tennessee. Everyone welcome.
