NHCC OFFERS HUNTER’S SAFETY CLASS

BENEFIT DINNER FOR JOHN HOWES
A Spaghetti Dinner is being held on Sun., Jan. 14, 2018 from 11 am to 3 pm at the Normantown Historical Community Center (Normantown School) for the benefit of John Howes who lost all his possessions (including his 4-wheeler, which was his only form of transportation) in a house fire (the former Ruff & Becky Cottrill home near Rosedale). The dinner will be by donation.
THE GILMER COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF RETIRED SCHOOL EMPLOYEES
The Gilmer County Association of Retired School Employees will meet on Tues., Jan. 16, at the Gilmer County Senior Center at 11:30 A.M. In case of inclement weather, they will meet on Tues., Jan. 23, at the same time. The January meeting will feature the Glenville First Baptist Church Cancer Fund, with Susie Sheets, spokesperson. Also, members need to bring money for the December Scholarship Calendar. In addition, members should bring pictures of themselves taken about 1957.
Will be held on Sat., Jan. 13, 2018 at the Normantown School Gym, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Bluegrass and gospel music. Free fun for everyone!
MELVIN WINE MEMORIAL CONCERT
We have the concert date on the Landmark Studio Calendar for April 21, 2018 at 6 p.m. It was very successful last year and I hope everyone still wants to do this again in the Spring. Please mark your calendars and get the word out. There will be a square dance after the concert at the Sutton Community building. It is hosted by Augusta’s heritage dance trail program and they will promote both events in their brochure.
THE LEWIS COUNTY SENIOR CENTER
Is planning a cruise to New England and Canada, Oct. 11-20, 2018. Rates are per person for double occupancy and include motorcoach transportation to the pier in Baltimore. Ports will include Boston, Bar Harbor and Portland Maine, Saint John, New Brunswick and Halifax Nova Scotia. A passport is required. Will be on Sat., Jan 13, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the Gilmer County Senior Center. Special Singers will be The Fishers of Men from Braxton County. Everyone is welcome.
