My husbands, folks had a picnic planned almost every time we would come home on model change over from General Motors of Detroit. I remember one time we went to Hawks Nest State Park when Duane’s Uncle Nelson and family were in at the same time. So , there were three carloads of us. He said that Gerry and Gary Moore went with us.

He and Gary rode in the front seat and we women were in the back. Aunt Susie and Uncle Ralph had Grandpa Riffle in with them and Uncle Nelson and his family were in their car. Aunt Susie had the trunk loaded down with food; fried chicken, potato salad, green beans, biscuits, ripe tomatoes, cucumbers, melon, homemade desserts, coffee, pop and water. I’m probably forgetting some of it. She always fixed so much food when company came. She had a new cake recipe about every time we came home. I remember a prune cake that was different.
