We West Virginians are great people, Governor Jim Justice affirmed at the outset of his State of the State Address on January 10, 2018. More importantly, he is right, but he didn’t note that possibly the state’s leadership is lacking. As the Mountain State remains in last place among the other states in many crucial categories, we, the citizens, can only hang down our heads and weep.

For example, the foolish partisan gridlock, which has beset the National Capitol in Washington, is now, likewise, hampering a smooth running government at the State Capitol in Charleston. The Governor’s recent change of political parties from the minority Democrats to the majority Republicans at the Capitol hasn’t bore any fruit yet.
