Larry Gene Stump, of Flint, age 73, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at his residence. Funeral services was held at 11 AM, Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Westside Church – 5090 Pasadena Ave. Flushing, MI. 48433. Pastor Ed Emmerling officiated. Burial followed in Sunset Hills Cemetery with military honors. The family received visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Monday from 1-8 PM and at the church on Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Westside Church.
Gene was born August 27, 1942, in Rosedale. He graduated from Normantown High School. Gene was a U.S. Army Veteran with service in the Vietnam War. He married Nina White on November 1, 1963, in West Virginia. He had resided in Flint since 1988 coming from Elyria, OH. He was employed at Fisher Body – Coldwater for many years before retiring from Saginaw Delphi in 1998 with over 35 years of combined service. He was also an active member of UAW Local 659. Gene was a member of Westside Church in Flushing. He enjoyed gardening, board games with friends, social gatherings with his church family, trips to West Virginia and loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are: Wife, Nina; four children: Michael (Michele) Stump of Grafton, OH; Carla (Jack) Handley of Elyria, OH; Alan (Jenn) Stump of Flint; and Terry (Heather) Stump of Flint; eight grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; Brother, David (Claudia) Conley of Elyria, OH; Sister, Ruth (Larry) Hughart of Charleston.
