Mary Mae “Nanny” Smith, age 78, of James St. in Glenville, departed this life on the evening of February 9, 2016 at her residence following a extended illness. Born November 22, 1937 in Glenville, Mary was the daughter of the late John and Myrtle Hoover Wanstreet.
Mary was a homemaker, member of the Gilmer County Farm Bureau, and member of the Dawson Baptist Church. She enjoyed making crafts, crocheting, baking, reading, working in her garden, and tending to her flowers. Mary loved to care for her family, spoil her grandchildren, and spend time with friends.
On November 24, 1956, Mary was united in marriage to Arnold Smith, who survives at their James St. home.
Surviving is one daughter, Roselea “Dottie” Sprouse of Glenville; two grandchildren, Johnathon Sprouse and wife, Miranda “Randi” of Glenville; Lisa Radcliff and husband, Argil of Weston; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson Sprouse of Glenville; and Hoyt Radcliff of Weston.
Funeral Services were conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2016. Elder Larry Fisher officiated. Burial followed in the Stalnaker Cemetery in Glenville. Friends were received from 12:00 noon- 1:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
