The curtain has closed on a class act in town. The bigger-than-life personality of Richard “Dick” Eugene Harrison served and entertained the residents of Lewis County for 74 years and imprinted on the hearts and lives of family and friends far and wide. On Saturday, September 2, 2017, he experienced a heart attack at his home and his exit was swift, which was a gift for him, yet bittersweet for the rest of us who will miss the man, the myth, the legend, who always knew how to make us laugh.
Friends and family gathered at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Weston from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Funeral services followed at 7 p.m. Father John Valentine officiated. Interment was held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in the Weston Masonic Cemetery. Full military honors was accorded by the United States Navy and the Lewis County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lewis County First at 171 W 2nd St. Weston, WV 26452.
