Barbara Idleman Gower, 79, of Gassaway, passed away on October 27, 2019 at Clay Health care Center, Big Otter.
She was born January 23, 1940 in Scarboro, a daughter of the late Glenn and Katherine Kennedy Idleman.
Barbara was a retired school teacher for 22 years at Braxton County Board of Education and several years at Gilmer County Board of Education. She was a homemaker and wonderful mother. She liked to knit and crochet for family. She loved the beach. Her life touched many individuals. Barbara was a sweet person that took the time to listen and talk to others. She was a member of the Gassaway Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the Baptist Church choir.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Janet Lewis.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gene Gower; son, Jeff Gower and wife, Alecia, of Conroe, TX, daughter, Robin Woodford and husband, John, of Flemington, brother, Michael Glenn Idleman and wife, Linda, of Fairview, sister, Rosemary Meitz and husband, Frank, of Atlanta, GA, grandchildren, Jamie Taylor and husband, Jesse, of Conroe, TX, Derek Woodford and wife, Sarah, of Morgantown, Drew Woodford and wife, Ashley, of Virginia Beach, VA, and Kylie Woodford, of Flemington, and great grandchild, Elijah Woodford.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Reverend Mark Stump officiating. Interment will be in the Seventh Day Baptist Church Cemetery, Lost Creek.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2019 at the funeral home.
