The Fri., Feb. 2, 2018 meeting of the Gilmer County Commission was called to order at 9:05 a.m. by President Larry Chapman, and, after the Pledge of Allegiance, the meeting quickly got down to business.

Gilmer County’s Prosecuting Attorney, Gerry Hough appeared before the County Commission to let the Commissioners know about a couple of ways that the Jail Bill could be recouped. Apparently, fugitives from FCI-Gilmer are held in the Central Regional Jail. It is possible to require their home states to handle the cost of transferring them. The home state would also be responsible for transferring them back, if desired. This would remove part of the bill every month.
