Once a year, the journalists, ad sales folks, and other newspapermen (and women!) of West Virginia meet to swap stories, hear the newest stuff going on in the business, and get pats on the back from their fellows at the WV Press Convention.

This year, Canaan Valley Resort in Tucker County hosted the event and among the beautiful scenery and excellent accommodations, the event yielded good news for Glenville’s hometown newspaper: six awards... three in Advertising and three in the Editorial category.

Firstly, the Glenville Democrat and Glenville Pathfinder received second and third places in the Service to the Community category. “That’s really what it’s all about, ultimately.” said David Corcoran, Sr. “A paper is only as good as it helps its community.” The third place award was for the 2016 section “Rock the Vote” which appeared in the April 21 and May 5, 2016 issues of the paper. The second place award was for the “Easter Egg Hunt” which was in the March 17 and March 24 issues.
