All good news to report from the August 7 Glenville City Council meeting.
First of all, Mayor Dennis Fitzpatrick swore in new Ward 3 City Councilperson Leisa Dean, who will represent the area of Mineral Road and Walnut Street going out in the direction of Morris Stadium. The Mayor expressed his gratitude for her accepting the appointment.
Secondly, Mayor Fitzpatrick announced that Allen Contractors of Buckhannon/Elkins had finished the paving job in Glenville. “The paving is done and all of our streets have now been paved over the past three years,” he outlines, stressing, “I can’t remember when the whole city had been repaved before, like our method of setting a goal and sticking to it.
Streets or areas paved this time are as follows: a portion of Powell Street, several in the Brooklyn neighborhood area, and in Camden Flats, Dolliver, 1st and 3rd Streets and all of Whiting Avenue. The total cost for this project was less than $40,000.00.
